So, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously votes to declare the National Rifle Association a "domestic terror group."  There is much in the way of historical facts regarding the NRA to illustrate the insanity of this declaration.

The NRA was formed in 1871 by former Union officers after the end of the American Civil War.  Given that in this era no one seriously challenged the Second Amendment, the NRA's original charter goal was to promote safe marksmanship in America.  However, that original mission continues today, as the NRA is widely considered the world's finest education source for firearms safety and proficiency.  The first president of the NRA was Ambrose Burnside, the then governor of Rhode Island, and former general officer of the Army of the Potomac.

The list of members of the NRA is a who's who's list of noteworthy patriotic Americans, including Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and Donald Trump.  Currently, the NRA has over 14 million members, making it by far the nation's best and most effective civil rights organization.

Polls consistently show that most Americans have a favorable view of the NRA.  A 2012 Reuters poll indicated that 82% of Republicans and 55% of Democrats have a positive impression of the organization.  Moreover it is believed that over ten percent of its membership are military veterans and more than 11,000 of its members are law enforcement officers.  It would be rather odd for the Americans who fight terrorists overseas, plus those who battle terrorists inside America, to be the terrorists themselves!  A concerted smear campaign by the national media over the last 20 years has chipped away a small bit at that approval level, but the NRA remains a positive influence on the preservation of Constitutional liberties.

Simply put, the NRA remains a civil rights organization dedicated to upholding and defending the Bill of Rights against an ongoing assault by leftist organizations, with the media being a prime ally in that leftist effort.  An NRA web video stated this position quite clearly:

"They use their media to assassinate real news.  They use their schools to teach children that the President is another Hitler.  They use their movie stars, and singers, and comedy shows, and award shows to repeat their narrative over and over again.  And then they use their ex-Presidents to endorse their resistance.  All to make them march, make them protest, make them scream racism, and sexism, and xenophobia, and homophobia.  To smash windows, burn cars, shut down interstates and airports, bully and terrorize the law abiding, until the only option left is for the police to do their jobs and stop the madness.  And when that happens, they'll use it as an excuse for their outrage.  The only way we stop this, the only way we save our country and our freedom, is to fight this violence of lies with the clinched fist of truth!" -- Dana Loesch

What this ridiculous political stunt by San Francisco's city leaders reveals is how leftists in America are at war with our Constitutional liberties.  The purpose of the Second Amendment is to allow our citizens to be the guardians of our liberty.  And so this stunt is no trivial action.  As foolish as it certainly is, it also shows how determined the left in America is now to destroy our most basic liberties.

Perhaps the most disturbing part of the left's actions of late is how they consistently go lenient on criminals while wishing to infringe upon the rights of law-abiding people.  San Francisco's courts recently rejected the only charge an illegal immigrant was convicted for, in the killing of Kate Steinle.  Over a technicality, the appeals court overturned this lower court conviction.  Put these two events together, happening within days of each other, the left reveals their sick philosophy.  Leftists wish to decrimininalize crime and criminalize liberties!

If one wished to give these fools the time of day, it would best be limited to only the time it would take to hand them brooms, bags, and scoopers so they could clean up the human manure and drug syringes from their streets.  But, on a more fundamental level, this action also shows those of us who support liberty just how seriously these leftist maniacs threaten those liberties.
